This website is a storehouse of information about the people buried at St Mary’s Churchyard, Whyke, Chichester. The research is a project of the Friends of St Mary’s Churchyard, a volunteer group founded in March 2023.
As a result of our work, St Mary’s is already one of the best-researched churchyards in Sussex in this regard. Nevertheless our research is very far from complete. Our plan is to update the various files periodically, as new work is done. So why have we chosen to post the material at this stage? First, to make it available to those interested, and to ensure that it is not lost when the researchers themselves pass on.
Second, we hope that the website will encourage readers to send us comments, new information, corrections, photographs etc., in order to help us to improve the site. Please contact us and send all such material our way. Thank you in advance!
